City put their league woes on hold for one night as they produced a morale-boosting victory over Swansea City in a friendly
clash arranged at the request of the Welsh side. And in a further boost for Alan Pridham's under pressure side the game also
saw the goal-scoring return from injury of Graham MacLean and Adrian Foster. MacLean making his first outing since sustaining
knee ligament damage against Newport County back in October as a half time substitute took just 14 minutes to show what
City had been missing, capitalising on a defensive mix-up to drive the ball home from 12 yards out. However, City's top scorer
Foster managed to beat this by adding to his 12 goal season tally within only 11 minutes of his entry into the action. Having
missed the last two weeks with a calf injury Foster fired home with seven minutes remaining to complete the 2-0 victory.
The match was a typical friendly encounter with City using 20 players and the visitors making four second half changes including
the introduction of 15-year old keeper Allison. On a pitch showing the understandable strain of four games in five days both
sides attempted to play attractive passing football and it was Swansea who held the upper hand in the first half, forcing
new goalkeeper Ray Johnston into a number of good stops. City's best chance in this period fell to Gareth Hopkins but he could
only loft the ball into the keepers arm when well-placed. The series of second half changes broke up what little flow the
game had but when MacLean and Foster capitalised on this the small crowd was finally given something to cheers about.
Crap report, I know, but I wasn't at the game so can't add any more. Sorry!
